Elana James is a multi-talented musician, known for her skills as a violinist, vocalist, composer, and educator. Elana grew up in Kansas and began playing at a young age. She a background in classical music and has played in various orchestras and chamber groups. In her mid-ties, she discovered her passion for American roots music, Western Swing and Jump Jazz has since pursued a successful career in blending these genres.  She is the co-founder and owner of the Austin-based trio, Hot Club of Cowtown, which has toured the world for over 25 years. Elana has collaborated with legendary artists such as Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Gimble. She is excited to rebrand under her own name and showcase her diverse range of music, from traditional fiddle tunes to American songbook standards and her own compositions. While Whit Smith and Hot Club will always be a part her music, Elana is eager to break out and share her unique talents with the world.
